Three-In-One
How can someone possibly describe the infinite, all-knowing, transcendent God?
How can someone possibly put into words his majesty, power, and glory?
How can someone possibly speak of his immeasurable love and faithfulness?
Sometimes only songs or poems can do the job.
The collection of ancient songs in the Bible, the book of Psalms, is focused on one thing: Yahweh, the one true God, who is worthy of all our praise.
Let all that I am praise the LORD. With my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. (Psalm 103:1)
Listen to someone read Psalm 103. (You could listen to it on Streetlights Bible. Download the free app, choose Old Testament, then the specific book/chapter.) Then read the Psalm for yourself. As you listen and read, write down the following things:
David wrote many of the best-known Psalms. He was a shepherd boy who grew to become the King of Judah and then of all Israel. He was described as a “man after God’s own heart” who worshipped and loved the LORD. But like all humans, he made some critical mistakes during his lifetime and failed to obey God faithfully. Psalm 51 was written after one of those instances.
Hundreds of years after King David's death, Jesus the Messiah was born in Bethlehem, a direct descendant of King David who is listed in the genealogies of Jesus in both Matthew and Luke.
This is the record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham. (Matthew 1:1)
Any Psalm from 145 through 150.
